Cultivating Kindness Landscape & Design is an Olympia-area landscape Design & Build company creating sustainable, functional and beautiful outdoor spaces throughout Thurston County and the South Puget Sound.
Our work combines landscape design, horticulture and skilled construction with an environmentally conscious approach suited to the Pacific Northwest.
From complete landscape transformations to gardens, patios, pathways and outdoor living spaces, each project begins with the property, the people who live there and a thoughtful design.
Meet the Owner & Designer
Cultivating Kindness was founded by owner, landscape contractor and designer LJ Cirilo, whose experience combines landscape construction, horticulture, plant knowledge and years of hands-on design work.
LJ's background also includes operating Cultivating Kindness Plant Nursery in Tumwater and creating Eternal Harvest: Food for Everyone, a community garden project in Olympia.
That combination of design, horticulture and construction continues to shape CKLD's approach to creating landscapes that are both beautiful and practical.

Landscaping in Western Washington requires more than choosing attractive plants and materials. Soil, drainage, rainfall, summer drought, sunlight, slopes and existing trees all influence how a landscape should be designed.
CKLD creates landscapes for Pacific Northwest conditions using thoughtful plant selection, sustainable practices and practical solutions for drainage, irrigation and long-term maintenance.
Our designs may incorporate native and adapted plants, pollinator habitat, lawn alternatives and water-conscious planting alongside functional outdoor living spaces.

CKLD provides residential landscape Design & Build services throughout Olympia, Lacey and surrounding Thurston County communities.
Our projects can include paver patios and walkways, retaining walls, planting design, water features and ponds, irrigation, landscape lighting, grading and drainage, lawn conversions and complete outdoor living transformations.
By connecting design and construction, we can consider how plants, hardscape, water, lighting and the existing property work together as one landscape.
